The 1889 Universal Exhibition was a key moment for professionals in the French cosmetic industry. The feeling of progress was at its highest. The event also marked a turning point in the structuring of the profession. Indeed, in order to establish a common policy on general questions concerning the French perfume industry, Aimé Guerlain and Charles Gallet decided to create the Chambre syndicale de la parfumerie française (Union Chamber of French perfumery) – which was done on June 25, 1890.
